Place of interest in New Delhi

Humayun’s Tomb in New Delhi – is an incredible place of interest to visit. Located in the Nizamuddin East area, it is a stunning example of Mughal architecture and engineering from the 16th century. The garden complex covers more than two hundred acres and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.

The tomb itself was built for Emperor Humayun in 1570 by his widow Haji Begum. It stands over 50 meters high and consists of red sandstone with white marble details throughout it’s exterior walls. Inside are four chambers which hold many artifacts including some belonging to the emperor

India Gate in New Delhi – Gate is an iconic monument located in New Delhi. It was built to commemorate the Indian soldiers who died during World War I and Afghanistan wars. The 42 meters high stone arch stands tall at Rajpath with its beautiful architecture that makes it one of the most popular tourist attractions in India.

India Gate is a great place to visit any time of year, but it looks especially spectacular during the evening when the entire structure is lit up by colorful lights. There are also many parks surrounding India Gate where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful stroll or picnic while admiring this grand monument from different angles.

Red Fort in New Delhi – Red Fort is an iconic landmark of the city. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1639 and served as the main residence for his descendants until 1857. The fort stands tall, with walls made of red sandstone and marble that are 33 meters high on average. Inside the complex, you can explore a variety of buildings that reflect India’s rich history, including the Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience) and Rang Mahal (Palace of Color).

The Red Fort is best visited between November to February when temperatures are cooler

Qutab Minar in New Delhi – is an awe-inspiring landmark of great historical significance. Standing at a towering height of 73 meters, it is the tallest minaret in India and one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country. The Qutab Minar complex consists of several monuments that represent Indo Islamic architecture, including two mosques, iron pillars and other structures.

The best time to visit Qutab Minar is during winter months when temperatures are relatively lower than summers. Winter season starts from November and ends in February providing perfect weather conditions for sightseeing. This ancient monument has a lot to offer for its visitors

Lotus Temple in New Delhi – Lotus Temple is an iconic contemporary architectural wonder. Located in the heart of New Delhi, this temple is a Bahá’í House of Worship and is renowned for its beautiful lotus-shaped structure which comprises of 27 free standing marble clad petals designed to resemble a half open lotus flower. The Lotus Temple attracts tourists from all over India and the world, who come here to admire its unique architecture and peaceful atmosphere.
