He wanted Devín Castle to be an impenetrable fortification against his enemies, and so he fortified it with walls up to 10 meters thick! Slovakia is a beautiful place with lots of delicious food to try. As a tourist, I was excited for the opportunity to experience traditional Slovak cuisine.

One of the first dishes I tried was bryndzové halušky – potato dumplings served with sheep cheese and bacon bits. The dish had an interesting texture, as the potatoes were boiled until soft but still held their shape when mixed with butter, salt and pepper.
